I really love flying and always have.
However, I realize that there are a lot of people who don’t find the experience to be very enjoyable, which is completely normal and understandable. My name is Matt Clark and I’m a commercial airline pilot. Over the years, I’ve been asked a litany of questions about my job and flying in general. During that time, many of those questions (from both friends and complete strangers) have been in regard to those individuals’ anxieties or concerns about flying.
This site is a response to those conversations and is designed for all types of flyers, whether you are at one end of the spectrum and enjoy flying, or are so afraid of flying that you miss out on special events and opportunities because you simply cannot bring yourself to get on a plane.
A long while ago, I realized that a couple of those casual conversations I had about flying had coincidentally helped a friend cope with their anxiety and had actually made the experience of flying easier for them. It was a kind of “Ah-ha!” moment, where I suddenly realized that I could actually help others by sharing my knowledge and experience.
Flying has been one of my greatest passions in life. And while the many people find the mystique of flying to be captivating and intriguing, for others it creates an uncomfortable unknown factor to contend with. I want to pull back the curtain on various misconceptions about flying and empower you with a better understanding of what is actually taking place.

After over 20 years in the cockpit, I continue to learn more about flying every day and I enjoy sharing my thoughts with flyers of all types, hoping that this information can help each of them feel more comfortable with flying. Throughout my career I’ve flown everything from small propeller planes, to small and medium sized passenger jets, to huge wide-body international airliners. All that experience translates into thousands of hours of flight time, spanning five continents and over thirty countries. In my posts, I want to take all that experience and break it down into easy to understand segments that can give you a glimpse into the world of an airline pilot.
All I ask is that you visit the site on a regular basis to increase your own understanding about flying. Please don’t sit idly by and let your fear or anxiety of flying negatively influence your life. Let this site be a resource to help you transform your thoughts and feelings about flying.
